Trading in your old phone: how to get the most for it

A phone in a drawer loses value every month. Five minutes of preparation can add real money to your trade-in quote.

Phones lose value steadily, so the best time to trade one in is usually as soon as you have replaced it. A little preparation also helps you get the best possible quote.

Back up, then sign out

Back up your photos and chats, then sign out of your Apple Account or Google account and turn off Find My or Find My Device. A phone that is still locked to an account cannot be traded in.

Be honest about the condition

Quotes are based on the screen, the body, the battery and whether everything works. An accurate description up front means no surprises when we check it in person.

Keep the accessories together

The original box and cable are not required, but they are nice to include and make the phone easier for its next owner to love.

Use your credit straight away

Trade-in credit can go towards a new device in the same order, or you can bring your old phone to the counter and we take care of the rest, including a secure data wipe.

Want a quote? Tell us the model, storage and condition through our contact page and a person will reply the same day.
